What is AWS Class E347-16 Coated Electrodes?
AWS Class E347-16 coated electrodes are formulated with stabilized austenitic stainless steel containing chromium (≈19–21%), nickel (≈9–11%), and niobium/tantalum as stabilizers, along with manganese, silicon, and controlled carbon content to resist carbide precipitation. These electrodes exhibit excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion and high-temperature oxidation. Mechanical properties include tensile strength of around 550 MPa, yield strength near 350 MPa, and elongation of 30% minimum, ensuring toughness and ductility. Their balanced composition and strength make them ideal for critical welding applications requiring durability and corrosion resistance.
