What is AWS Class E308/308L-16 Coated Electrodes?
AWS Class E308/308L-16 coated electrodes are designed for welding low-carbon 18Cr-8Ni stainless steels. Their typical composition includes 18–21% Chromium, 9–11% Nickel, ≤0.04% Carbon, with small amounts of Manganese, Silicon, and Iron balance. This composition ensures excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion and high-temperature oxidation. Mechanical properties include tensile strength of around 550 MPa, yield strength of 350 MPa, and elongation of approximately 35%. These electrodes provide superior toughness, crack resistance, and durability, making them ideal for critical stainless steel welding applications.
