AWS Class ER2209 SAW wire is a duplex stainless steel consumable designed for high-strength, corrosion-resistant welds. Its typical chemical composition includes 22% chromium, 9% nickel, 3% molybdenum, and small amounts of manganese, silicon, and nitrogen, balancing corrosion resistance and toughness. Mechanically, it offers a tensile strength of 620–750 MPa, yield strength around 450–550 MPa, and elongation of 25–30%, ensuring excellent ductility. When used with compatible SAW flux, it provides stable arc characteristics, minimal spatter, and deep penetration. This combination is ideal for demanding applications in chemical, petrochemical, and marine environments.
